Remy Porter’s Dead Beat Trailer
I had a bit of fun this morning witha small group of filmmakers/extras shooting not too far from where I live - being a hiker in a trailer being made for Remy Porter’s zombie novel “Dead Beat”.
It’s not too difficult to act like a zombie after getting up at 4:45 in the morning but in this instance I was actually the hiker being attacked by a zombie instead. Not too sure being in front of the camera is my thing, apart from a bit of hand and foot modelling here and there I prefer to stay behind the lens (the hand modelling is a long story).
The guys are filming zombies all around Edinburgh and over to Livingston today so fingers crossed it all goes well and our Scottish weather holds!
Do keep an eye out for the trailer when it arrives and if you like t make sure to spread it around!
Find out a little more here.
UPDATE: far from being attacked by a zombie being an issue, being attacked by a swarm of Scottish midges has been! My head is full of little bites off the wee blood sucking b*ggers! I need to remember my AVON Skin so Soft next time I do this. This update is brought to you by AVON “Skin So Soft” - the zombie filmmakers choice on midge protection!
Plan 9 in 3D
Today 3D reports that Passmore labs, one of the worlds leading 2d to 3d conversion studios, is to convert the “classic” horror B movie “Plan 9 from Outer Space” to 3D. The Ed Wood classic, famously named as “the worst movie ever” was, along with the director, the subject of Tim Burtons “Ed Wood” film in 1994.
Passmore labs who previously converted George Romero’s “NIght of The Living Dead” to 3d, will take around 6 weeks to do the conversion with a budget considerably higher than the original $60,000.

3D B Movie Trailers
As a continuing experiment with 2D to 3D conversion Enhanced Dimensions will be converting a series of B movie trailers over the coming weeks. The trailers have been created using footage that is listed as Public Domain and uses several techniques to convert standard 2d footage into 3d anaglyph videos.
Our first converted trailer is for the fantastic “Carnival of Souls” and can be seen over on our YouTube or Vimeo Stereoscopic 3D Channel right now!
Alien Prequel in 3D
There’s exciting news on the Alien Prequel front (definitely one of my all time favourites). Not only is Ridley Scott going to be directing but it’s going to be in 3D! How much scarier will it be when HR Giger’s beast leaps outof the screen at you? I can’t wait to find out!
Read more about what Ridley Scott has to say on Alien 3D here.
