 The LA3DClub has teamed up with the Downtown Independent Theater to present screenings of independent 3-D movies in Los Angeles.

On Sunday, August 29th, 2010, at 3pm we will be presenting a special FREE afternoon showcase of independent 3-D shorts including Enhanced Dimensions Award winning FourPlay.

Included in the screening will be selections from the recent 7th Annual LA 3-D Movie Festival, and the top award winners from previous LA 3-D Movie Fests and competitions. Don’t miss this opportunity to see some of the most innovative 3-D short films from around the world. The screening will be followed by a potluck BBQ reception at the Downtown Independent’s rooftop bar.

In addition to the free afternoon showcase screening, at 7:30pm we will be presenting a special rare showing of the 35mm 3-D feature Rottweiler, and a Q&A with stereo 3-D legends Lenny Lipton and Chris Condon. For more information: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=146693255355183

Just a quick reminder that the deadline for Sony & 3D World Magazine’s Short 3D Film Contest is just a week away – Friday 9th July. If you haven’t started your render by now it’s probably getting a bit late!

To help promote the launch of its new 3D BRAVIAs, Sony is looking for a range of stereoscopic content to go on its in-store demo Blu-ray disc and to be made available to all purchasers of a Sony BRAVIA 3D TV. Here’s a quick reminder of Short & Sweet 3D – London’s first short film festival that is happening at the Barbican on Friday 16th July.

Enhanced Dimensions were commissioned to create the stereo 3D Idents for the Courvoisier sponsored festival. The creative is based on the Short & Sweet 3D Cube print & online design – taking the logos pseudo 3d look and extending it into the next dimension. On the night the short 3D movies and bumpers will use the ExpanD system for viewing the animations in all their glory but if you’d like to preview the 3D bumpersyou can do so using anaglyph glasses on our Vimeo Stereoscopic 3D Channel or Enhanced Dimensions YouTube Channel right now.

Enhanced Dimensions 3D Short Film “FourPlay” is one of the films included in the final of the teamFudge Short Film Contest!

The final is kicking off at 8pm on Wednesday 7th July, at Banshee Labyrinth, 29 Niddry Street, Edinburgh. The makers of the film judged to be the best on the night will win the trophy and cash prize.

The contest organisers teamFUDGE will be taking part in the “Mongol Rally”, an annual ‘wacky races’ charity trek from the UK to Mongolia. 500 teams will be taking part this year, raising over HALF A MILLION POUNDS for charity.  Most teams will also be donating their cars on arrival to either be sold for the profits or converted for charitable use.

Amidst all the high profile earthquake appeals, it seems the plight of the Mongolians has been lost.  They are currently enduring one of the worst winters so far this century, thanks to a phenomenon known as dzud, which occurs when severely cold winters of below -50C are preceded by dry summers that preclude sufficient grazing.  It’s estimated that 3 million livestock will die by June, which would be devastating for a county that relies so heavily on their cattle, horses, sheep and yaks.

Short & Sweet, who regularly run short film nights in London, are about to launch the very first 3D stereoscopic short film festival in the UK. The event takes place at the Barbican on Friday, 16 July and tickets are on sale now.
