The team behind the Genus Hurricane Rig have got a really thorough guide to shooting in 3D on their blog. I’d recommend it as a good read for anyone looking for a good overview of the issues and challenges likely to effect you as a stereoscopic filmmaker. They cover all the basics of camera sync, parallel vs converged and on set monitoring.
The hurricane 3D rig itself also looks to be an interesting bit of kit. Built from the ground up to be suitable for an indie filmmaker it can be configured as a side by side or mirror rig and support a wide range of low cost cameras. I for one would like one…now.
